Co-Founder & Technical Director

He has worked with ultra-high-vacuum systems to synthesise a range of III–V semiconductor materials for advanced microelectronics, quantum applications and heterogeneous integration.

With a PhD focused on the thin-film growth of III–As semiconductors by molecular beam epitaxy and an MEng in microelectronics, Nick brings insight into both semiconductor growth processes and the control electronics integral to Elethron’s systems. His background allows him to assess a materials process as a complete system, encompassing the reactor, process conditions, controls, instrumentation and operating environment.

He is passionate about producing next-generation semiconductor and photonic crystal materials by leveraging the benefits of space to address today’s problems and tomorrow’s challenges. At Elethron, he puts this ambition into practice. Working across the company’s scientific and engineering teams, he leads the development of processing systems that harness microgravity to enable material structures, properties and levels of quality that remain difficult to achieve through conventional growth and fabrication methods on Earth.
